The Hargis Mandibular Body Retractor is a solid one-piece instrument, so its performance comes from blade geometry and handle ergonomics. The working blade is specified as 13 mm tips featuring a versatile skin hook profile, which spreads retraction force over a wider contact area and reduces point pressure on tissue. The handle is flat ergonomic handle with lateral serrations for tactile grip stability, giving a secure, fatigue-resistant grip through long exposures. An overall length of 17 cm (approx. 6.7 inches) keeps the surgeon's hand clear of the operative field. It is made from surgical-grade stainless steel (aisi 304/410) for glare-free, corrosion-resistant service.

The Hargis Mandibular Body Retractor is used in oral and maxillofacial surgery to hook around the inferior border of the mandibular corpus, retracting soft tissues and protecting facial vessels during osteotomies.

It is indicated for sagittal split ramus osteotomy (SSRO), mandibular body osteotomy, genioplasty, mandibular fracture open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF), and marginal mandibulectomy.
