The Sistrunk Retractor is a solid one-piece instrument, so its performance comes from blade geometry and handle ergonomics. The working blade is specified as ⅜ inch (approx. 9.5 mm) wide blade layout, which spreads retraction force over a wider contact area and reduces point pressure on tissue. The handle is flat central ergonomic handle with lateral serrations for tactile grip stability, giving a secure, fatigue-resistant grip through long exposures. An overall length of 15.3 cm (approx. 6.0 inches) keeps the surgeon's hand clear of the operative field. It is made from premium operating room-grade german stainless steel (aisi 304/410) for glare-free, corrosion-resistant service.

The Sistrunk Retractor is used in head and neck surgery to retract pretracheal tissues, strap muscles, and skin flaps, exposing the hyoid bone during thyroglossal duct cyst excision.

It is indicated for thyroglossal duct cyst excision (Sistrunk procedure), submandibular gland resection, thyroidectomy, tracheostomy, and cervical lymph node biopsy.
